Currimundi State School commemorates Anzac Day

Our School commemorated ANZAC Day with a moving ceremony on Monday 23 April 2018. The ceremony is an annual tradition at our school that remembers the fallen and gives the children a chance to be part of the ANZAC spirit.

Invited guests included:

• Cathy Stamp from the Caloundra RSL Sub Branch

• Jarrod Bleijie, State Member for Kawana

• Peter Cox our local council member.

Parents/Carers and students listened to a speech from Caloundra RSL Sub Branch representative Cathy Stamp. Jarrod Bliejie read a poem titled ‘The Pledge of Remembrance’ by Rupert McCall. All classes created and laid their own wreaths during the ceremony. This was conducted with the help of the School Captains at the base of the school’s ANZAC memorial.

The Currimundi State School choir led by Mrs Schulz performed a beautiful song to begin our service while Mr Hucknall concluded our service by playing the ‘Last Post’ and then ‘The Rouse’ on the trumpet.
