Yr 1 Cliff Hargreaves Excursion

The Year 1 students went on an excursion to the Currimundi Lake to observe and explore animal habitats. It was a fantastic day which related to our Science unit Healthy Habitats. Along our bush walk, we played an I Spy game which had us all looking out for monkeys dangling from tree branches.

At the site, we did three rotations:

The first activity had us discussing and identifying features of a healthy and unhealthy habitat. We used scientific equipment to move objects and look at objects through a special magnifying glass cup.

The second activity, we discussed pollution and tried to catch fish.

The last activity had us use our senses of touch and hearing. We felt objects from the habitat hidden in bags and walked around blind folded listening to the sounds around us.

Overall, it was a wonderful day and we learnt a lot about our local environment and habitats. I must say, we were quite tired and exhausted when we arrived back!
