NAPLAN success

In May, our students in Years 3 & 5 participated in the Online National Assessment Programme [which includes] Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests.  The NAPLAN tests, included assessments in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.  Every student who participated in these tests received an individual report outlining their achievement earlier this week.

This report provides a range of information about each child’s relative performance in literacy and numeracy from the NAPLAN tests compared with results of students from across Australia.  The NAPLAN tests provide an important point-in-time snapshot of your child’s achievement but should be considered along with the range of other performance information collected by class teachers.

Currimundi students have once again achieved outstanding results in the 2019 NAPLAN tests.

Our NAPLAN results in 2019 show the high impact of our excellent teaching and learning program at our school.

In all areas tested in the Year 03 and Year 05 tests, the percentage of Currimundi students achieving the National Standard is higher, compared to the nation.  Furthermore, 100% of all students in Year 05 met the National Standard for Numeracy and Grammar and Punctuation.

Presently, teachers are reviewing scored student performance to identify school curriculum enhancements that can further improve student learning into 2020.

All students who achieved the highest band, Band 6 in Year 3 and Band 8 in Year 5, in any NAPLAN tested area received a certificate at parade on Monday 9 September 2019.
