Currimundi State School has a proud tradition of giving its students the opportunity to be part of a musical performance.
This year’s Musical stood out for many reasons. The initial meeting of interested staff was over a year ago, auditions began early in term 1 this year. The performance brought together about 120 students from yr 3 to yr 6 – the biggest cast ever for a Currimundi SS musical. Students, staff and talented parents/carers have given much of their time and effort to develop the polished performances that happened on the weekend. Staff will miss the lunch hour calls over the PA system for “All rats and fairies to the hall, skeletons to the music room etc”.
The talented and like-minded students that you saw on stage have worked hard with our equally talented staff and parents/carers to create memories that will last a lifetime and to bring to life the musical Shrek Jnr.
It is only through the dedicated staff and school community members who support and coordinate the student’s involvement in creative arts that a musical is possible. Their participation in the performance empowers students to step out of their comfort zone, form lasting friendships, embrace the joy of performing and ultimately allow them to take pride in their achievements.
Congratulations to everyone involved. I hope you had the opportunity to watch one of the performances.
