Borrowing procedures
Each class has a set borrowing period of 30 minutes each week to ensure they have regular access to our resources. Prep and Year 1 students may borrow 1 book at a time while students in Years 2-7 may borrow 2. Students are welcome to change their books as often as they like either before school or in the lunch breaks as listed.
Students should ensure they care for the books they borrow by:
Having a library bag when borrowing
Keeping books away from water bottles and lunch boxes in their bag
Keeping their library books in a safe place whilst the books are at home
Library Special Events
A Scholastic Book Fair is held once a year to coincide with Education Week where we receive many new books free of charge!
The Children's Book Council of Australia Book Week in August is also a busy time in the resource centre. During Book Week students participate in many exciting literary activities.
The Resource Centre also has a computer lab which provides an exciting new dimension of learning, information gathering and student lunchtime activities. Year levels are timetabled to use the lab at lunch times as well as class times.
Digital Library - Education Queensland Sora App
All Currimundi State School students now have access to a digital library which contains over 75,000 eBooks and audiobooks.
Remember students are able to access e-books over the school holidays. This is a great way for students to continuing reading, even when the library is closed.
The e-library can be accessed by visiting the Sora website , or downloading the free Sora app on a mobile device, then searching for the school 'Education Queensland' and logging in using their MIS ID.
