These programs are an initiative of the school and wider community.  Our aim is to increase the access to surfing development and competition in a safe, supportive environment.  We offer two levels  - and it is expected that students complete the Development Program before moving onto the Excellence Program.*Surfing Programs:

Development Program:

This program is for students who have demonstrated surfing readiness.  It is predominantly aimed at those in Years 02 - 06 although younger students may be eligible based on surfing experience, knowledge and a skills based assessment.

Students must be swim safe and paddle independently. This group will at times be heavily supervised and may benefit from some push on assistance.

This is not a Learn to Surf group - it is a skill development program. (North Caloundra Surf School, and other surf schools, provide Surf Groms sessions to learn to surf as an avenue to move into the Development Group).

Excellence Program:

Predominantly aimed at Year 04-06**, students selected for this program participate in training and further their skills through competitions. These students have demonstrated a readiness to be part of this program through hard work and skill development.

Lessons run weekly however with surf conditions and some school events, this may vary.

The program hosts the Curra Grom Fest, supports the Parko Grom Stomp, and has students enter a number of Coastal District Surfing Series events. Former student and 2012 World Surfing Champion, Joel Parkinson, is the patron of our Surfing Excellence Program and regularly updates his contribution to the overall running of the program.
